An 18th century altarpiece, almost three metres high, by Antoniazzo Romano situated in the sacristy of the Basilica of Santi Giovanni e Paolo in Rome is framed by two beautiful twin granite columns, the granite being the same as the Column of Flagellation. They are not mentioned or classified in the reference books on ancient marble or in the volume by the lawyer, Faustino Corsi (Delle pietre antiche, Rome 1845).
